Bernardo J. “Bernie” Carducci
May 20th, 1952 to September 22nd, 2018
The late Dr. Bernie Carducci, community college graduate, lead shyness researcher and tenured professor at Indiana University Southeast, met with Psi Alpha’s first Executive Director Elizabeth Shabazian during the 2018 American Psychological Association Conference only a few months before the official launch of Psi Alpha. Dr. Carducci, a long time supporter of Psi Beta, was incredibly excited to assist in the formation of Psi Alpha and shared many insights that continue to shape the honor society today. During their discussion he generously offered to sponsor the charter fee for his alumni high school, inspiring the fee waiver available today. Please find Dr. Bernie Carducci’s complete obituary here: B.Carducci_Memoriam.
Endorsed by his daughter Dr. Rozana Carducci and the Psi Alpha National Council, Psi Alpha approved a $150 annual fund to honor his legacy as a researcher, professor, supporter, and friend of the organization. A special thanks to Dr. Rozana Carducci for working with Psi Alpha to establish this waiver.
The Dr. Bernie Carducci Psi Alpha Chapter Fee Waiver allocates $150 to sponsor the charter fees for three or more chapters who express a financial need and share Dr. Carducci’s passion for psychology. As the charters are sponsored, please see below for the updated amount remaining for the 2019-2020 school year.
